DAVIDE CANELLA 

Davide Canella is a photographer born in 1999 in Busto Arsizio, Italy. Strongly passionated about history since childhood by grandparents’ stories, he felt contentment in his imaginary at first in Cinema and got interested in the power of images by the masters of classic photojournalism in adolescence, approaching photography at 17. He graduated in 2020 at CFP Bauer during the COVID pandemic and entered the news-industry in the same year, covering for italian papers as “Corriere della Sera”, “Repubblica” and “l’Espresso” the consequences of that period, from the demonstrations in the streets through the Lombardia Region politics scenario, winning in 2022 the “Vergani” Journalism Prize for the best picture of 2021. Documenting in 2022 the ex-jungle of Calais and Dunkirk, France, he found himself intended to improve his capability to narrate with the right power and empathy the human figure inside our society and its intrinsic complexity, in a constant need for a pure, honest and direct visual reality. Today he’s a photojournalist for ANSA national agency and “Il Giorno” newspaper.
